In a time of limited travel, Leonard Slatkin takes listeners across the globe. Englishman Benjamin Britten writes an ode to his mentor—music that dances, sings, sobs, and celebrates; the SLSO’s Erin Schreiber finds the folk-like, Romani spark at the heart of Maurice Ravel’s Tzigane; and Alberto Ginastera sings the songs of his native Argentina in Variaciones concertantes. The concerts will be performed for a socially distanced live audience in Powell Hall this Friday through Sunday, April 23-25.
